Vice Premier Shimon Peres came under fire telling reporters in the Knesset that residents of the northern community of Kiryat Shmona endured rocket attacks for years, yet remained tenacious and did not flee the area as Sderot citizens are doing.



--A press conference will reveal, for the first time the details of the plan to include the Magen David Adom organization (MDA) in the International Red Cross (IRC). After a struggle lasting dozens of years, a conference is being held in Geneva to determine if the MDA will be accepted as an official member of the IRC.



Until now, the inclusion of the MDA had been blocked because its red Star of David emblem is not recognized by the IRC.
