(IsraelNN.com) Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Sanyora said Sunday evening that the rocket fire at Israel today was a politically motivated act, and that the perpetrators wanted to cast doubt on the Lebanese Army's ability to protect southern Lebanon.

The attempt is doomed to fail, Sanyora said. "The Lebanese Army has showed its power and shows it with every passing hour, as well as its commitment, its control and its ability to bear full responsibility throughout Lebanon…"

The Lebanese Army said tonight that the rocket fire at Israel was a violation of UNSC Resolution 1701. The army warned against underestimating southern Lebanon's stability and said all steps were taken to prevent the recurrence of such attacks in the future.
