Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit expressed Egypt's satisfaction with the establishment of an emergency government in the Palestinian Authority (PA). He called upon all Palestinian Arabs to lend support to their president, Mahmoud Abbas.

"I wish Salam Fayad and his ministers success in these difficult times," said Aboul Gheit. He called upon the Arab nations and the international community to back the new government unreservedly.
