Israeli security sources said Friday that sending a multinational peacekeeping force into Gaza, as Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has suggested, is a bad idea. "Any force placed in Gaza would become a target, and would not aid in achieving any goal," the sources told NRG.

"What country would send its soldiers to Gaza?" the source asked rhetorically. "Gaza today is worse than Lebanon. The two cannot be compared."

Hamas officials have said that any foreign force sent into Gaza would be treated as an occupier.
