The European Union (EU) Parliament has refused to allow the distribution of a booklet revealing the anti-Semitic nature of the book Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a century-old work that accuses Jews of plotting to rule the world.

A think tank that promotes ties between Israel, the EU and the United States sent copies of the booklet to the Parliament along with an essay entitled The Lie That Will not Die.

The EU Parliament responded that it will not distribute the material "due to the nature of its content." It explained that it considers the literature to be an advertisement and that its decision was "independent of the positive opinion each of us may have regarding the cause defended by the books."

The Parliament three months ago ordered that the Protocols book be removed from the organization's Brussels bookshops.
