Jerusalem's committee responsible for naming new neighborhoods and streets has rejected opposition and has approved naming news streets and neighborhoods after two late rabbinical sages. The new neighborhood being built near Har HaHotzfim, east of Ramot, will be named after Rabbi Elazar Shach, and a development near Har Nof will be called Or LeTzion (Light to Zion) after the late Rabbi Aba Shaul.

Most of the opposition was centered around the naming of a street after the late Rabbi Yitzchak Kaduri because there generally must be a three-year waiting period between one's death and the naming of a street after the deceased. Rabbi Kaduri passed away last year.
