The Jerusalem police gave their official approval on Wednesday to a planned Gay Parade in the capital city next week. The parade will take place in downtown Jerusalem, and participants will march from Independence Park to Liberty Bell Park.
Police said they are preparing to deal with violent protests from those who oppose the parade, most notably among Jerusalem’s large hareidi-religious population. Police restricted the parade to a closed location on the Hebrew University campus last year due to fear of violence.
