The Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial project has received a diary written by 14-year-old Rutka Laskier in Poland in 1943. The diary, which is approximately 60 pages long, was given to Yad Vashem by Stanislawa Sapinska, a non-Jewish childhood friend of the author who safeguarded the diary for 64 years.

In the diary Rutka Laskier chronicled the last months of her life and describes the atrocities around her and her strong desire to survive. She left her diary for Sapinska before she and her parents were deported to Auschwitz. Laskier and her mother and brother were murdered in gas chambers in August of 1943.
