Israel has asked the European Union and Egyptian officials to increase their control over the Rafiah crossing, which connects the Palestinian Authority-controlled Gaza region to Egypt. Israel would like both the EU and Egypt to do more to stop Arab terrorists from entering Gaza, and to stop the transfer of large sums of money and materials used in the manufacture of weapons.



If the EU agrees to the terms, Israeli officials said, then Israel would agree to an extension of the international force in the area. Israel, the PA, and the EU must all agree to extend the force.
