Israel Trying To Sway El Salvador To Return to Capital

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni are scheduled to meet with El Salvador Foreign Minister Francisco Lainez Tuesday. El Salvador last year pulled out its embassy from Jerusalem, the last nation to do so, and Israel is hoping it can convince the country to return to the capital.

Foreign Minister Lainez will sign a memorandum of political consultations between the two governments and will visit the Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial museum.

A special El Salvador committee will present the chairman of Yad Vashem with its findings regarding actions taken by El Salvador to save thousands of Hungarian Jews during the Second World War.
