Gag Order on Reasons Arab MK Bashara May Quit

Arab Knesset Member Azmi Bashara, head of the National Democratic Assembly (Balad) party, is in Jordan, where he probably will announce his is quitting, according to Israeli media. A gag order has been placed on details of reports that he might not return to Israel because of threats of arrest. Party spokesmen denied that he intends to resign.

Bashara has been an outspoken critic of Israel and has been accused by several MKs of incitement for praising Hizbullah. He left Israel two weeks ago to promote a new book he wrote and returned to Israel last Thursday for several hours.
