Israelis to Drink 7.5 Million Bottles of Wine on Pesach

An Industrialists Unions survey showed Thursday that Israelis will drink 7.5 million bottles of wine during the Pesach (Passover) holiday. 90% of the wine will be manufactured in Israel. The total cost of the wine will be approximately 190 million shekels, 5-10% more than was spent in 2006.

Wine exports have increased as well, with approximately 22,000 bottles shipped abroad. Much of the exported wine will be used by Israeli tourists, particularly in Southeast Asia. The total cost of wine exports for Pesach is expected to reach approximately 7.75 million dollars, 14% more than in 2006.
