Muslim Brotherhood Leader Arrested in Egypt

Egypt’s security forces arrested a senior member of the Muslim Brotherhood on Monday night. The man, Mahmoud Gozlan, was arrested in his home by members of the Special Forces. Certain computer equipment was taken as well.

The Muslim Brotherhood, which was founded in 1928, goes by the motto: "God is our objective, the Quran is our Constitution, the Prophet is our leader, struggle is our way...” The group’s stated goal is to islamicize Muslim majority nations and install an Islamic Caliphate. While the group claims to be non-violent in most areas, it has made an exception in Israel, where Brotherhood members such as Hamas founder Sheik Ahmed Yassin have repeatedly planned violent attacks on civilians.
