(IsraelNN.com) The Prime Minister’s Office has created a new initiative, according to which most children at risk will be cared for in their local communities, and not in boarding schools. The Prime Minister’s Office will take responsibility for the plan’s implementation, which will cost approximately 200 million shekels.
The plan will be put into effect over the course of the next two years. Over 140,000 children, almost half of those defined as “youth at risk,” will be a part of the program. The money will be distributed to forty cities, and will be permitted for use only in caring for the children. The Director-General of the Prime Minister’s Office, Raanan Dinor, said that the initiative will save money in the long term, as it will prevent the children from developing more serious problems later in life.
