I met Donald Trump in the 1980's when he supported then Senator Alphonse D'Amato.

The meeting took place in Peter Kalikow's building in Manhattan. Senator D'Amato was one of the few people in American politics who actually praised Menachem Begin for bombing the Iraqi Nuclear reactor in Osirak in 1981. Senator D'Amato was one of Israel's best friends. Yitzchak Shamir used to call him his "secret weapon".

I believe Donald Trump will also be one of Israel's best friends. His statements thus far do not reflect how much of a friend he will be. Unlike President Obama who says he has "Israel's Back", Donald Trump will truly have "Israel's Back". According to his daughter, Ivanka, "when my father said that he is neutral on the subject of Israel, it means that he will look the other way and allow the Jews to exact revenge on their enemies". Governor Mike Huckabee is one of Israel's strongest advocates. He is being considered as one of the possible Vice Presidential candidates by Mr. Trump. He would not put himself into the mix if he felt that Donald Trump wasn't a true friend of the State of Israel.

Speaking at the Algemeiner Dinner of 2015, Mr. Trump concluded his remarks with strong comments in support of Israel saying, "We love Israel, we will fight for Israel 100 percent, 1000 percent, it will be there forever." The fact that liberal Rabbis who have championed President Obama and constantly bashed the cities of Judea and Samaria are protesting Mr. Trump at AIPAC should make one realize that Mr. Trump is much more in line and in tune with Prime Minister Netanyahu than Hillary Clinton. In a recent interview Mr. Trump said if he wins "It would be incredible news for Israel. Your friend is the front-runner in the primaries. I have always been your friend.

The people who need to know that, know it. Even in the toughest of times, I always stood by Israel. I supported you at times when it wasn't easy to be a friend of Israel. I am a great friend of Israel and that certainly won't change if I enter the White House. I love Israel". Mr. Trump may very well get his wish. Just as Richard Nixon was criticized by many on his positions on Israel and the Jewish people before being elected, and turned out to be one of Israel's greatest friends ever-he saved Israel in the Yom Kippur War of 1973 by sending a massive airlift, I believe Mr. Trump will even outdo Mr. Nixon in his ties to Israel. It is time to play the Trump card.
