Ben now serves as Director of the Jerusalem Heritage House (www.heritagehouse.org.il) and Co-Director of Young Jewish Conservatives (www.youngjewishconservatives.org). He lives in the Old City of Jerusalem with his wife and 6 children....

A few days ago we took a trip to Hevron. It was glorious as always, but one particular experience stood out - our "interaction" with TIPH.

For those who are unfamilliar, TIPH - the "Temporary International Presence in Hevron" is a monitoring group stationed in Hevron for the past 20 years. It would be better called DNBJ - Descendants of Nazis Bothering Jews. They simply walk and drive around the city bothering Jewish residents, tourists and soldiers. Theoretically they are "protecting" the arab residents of the area controlled by Israel. All they are really doing is stoking the flames of conflict and actively living their anti-semitic dreams.

Back to the other day. We had parked the car and were looking at some of the Jewish housing that had been destroyed by the Israeli government a few years ago. While a healthy distance way, we saw two TIPH "officers" taking pictures of our parked car. Not very nice of them. One of our guys on the tour was closer to the car than the rest of us and had some choice words for the amateur photographers and their provocation. In response, the TIPHs came closer and took a close-up picture of our license plate.

THEY TOOK A PICTURE OF OUR LICENSE PLATE!!!

That's right, a bunch of folks who have been hating Jews for centuries got angry at Jews, and they took a picture. That's it. In place of tatooing numbers on our arms, they took a picture of my Jewish State of Israel issued license plate.

What an AMAZING situation G-d has blessed us with! What pure joy we felt at their powerlessness. Shehecheyanu, v’kiyimanu, v’higiyanu la’z’man ha’zeh!!!!
