From the moment he walked into my house I warmed to Moshe Kachlon – an exceptionally nice guy.  I can’t imagine he has a single enemy in politics.  I am delighted with his election result and think Israel will be a major winner with him as Finance Minister also in charge of deregulation of the cumbersome Lands Authority.

But this coalition squabbling has to end, and quickly.

Let’s not forget what happened after the last election. The unlikely alliance of Bennett and Lapid sat on the fence playing hard-to-get. Instead of begging, Bibi turned to Tzipi Livni and her busted Hatnua Party.  To spite Bennett and Lapid he took Hatnua in as a coalition partner and appointed Livni as Justice Minister with responsibility for negotiations with the Palestinians.

At a stroke Livni was moved from political oblivion to a pivotal position from which she not only undermined Netanyahu in private meetings with the PLO and the Obama Administration, but leveraged herself, until a week ago, into almost toppling Likud and installing an Obama-friendly vassal to oust Jews from Judea and Samaria and force all of Israel’s citizens into indefensible borders.

Let’s please not make this mistake again. Let’s not empower another Livni whom I regard as a disgrace to her parents, a married couple of valiant Irgun commanders.

Moshe, Naftali …. let’s build on this heaven-sent election upturn and get as many true nationalists and Zionists into the coalition.

If the price of keeping our homeland together is a few Haredi honors, let it be.

Appoint Deri as Interior Minister … he’s been inside long enough to qualify.
