Shavua tov.  This month of Iyar is full of special dates- from Memorial Day for the Holocaust -Independence Day -La'g B'omer - the Liberation of Jerusalem - the Liberation of Hevron - what a meaningful month and how important that the Jewish people especially us who are blessed to live in our eternal Homeland not only remember the meaning of these days but live in appreciation of our history.

For those of us who are blessed to live in the heartland of Israel and have brought up our children to recognize our heritage and protect it is a special blessing.  When we first moved to our community of Bet Horon we were a handful of famlies living in caravans with no water, electricity, bus service or phones.  As one of our spokespeople the media used to come into our caravan at the time 35 square meters and looking around asked, "how much are you being paid to live like this?"  I responded that since we, the families are paying for everything - from the decision to establish our school here - down to the most elementary basics of living- grocery shopping - where the closest stores were actually Ramallah the closest town to us- we were paying for the privilege of returning home.

We felt so grateful to be able to live here and re-establish our homes in the community which is first mentioned in the Book of Joshua and where the battles of the Maccabbee Freedom Fighters took place.  Our community was first re-established on Channukah in honor of the history of  Ma'leh Bet Horon.

We continue to witness the crimes against our people with the destruction of homes as recently as a few days ago in Ma'aleh Rechavam, and plans to destroy additional homes in Ramat Gilad and Ramat Asaf.  It is not only immoral to have these families thrown out of their homes for no reason aside from politics especially with the reality of the imbalance of treatment of Jews in our Land- and the traitorous behaviour of Israel with terrorists.

I am not weighing one against the other for that is impossible to do.  Here we have law abiding citizens -tax payers who serve their country- who can be thrown out in the middle of the night on some pretext that the Land is not ours -with the media supporting this.  And on the other hand we have murdering terrorists sitting in jail receiving degrees and benefits and the horrific threat of their release- for nothing than encouraging more murders of innocent Jews. Where is the outcry of the media here?  Where is the morality of our government?

I will tell you where- it is with each and every family who loves our Land and is ready to join the Jewish pioneers who by living on the land in these important regions is protecting it. We will not give up- we shall rebuild and remain strong in our belief that it is not only our right but our eternal responsibility to do so and remember that governments come and go but Israel and our connection with our Torah our Land and people stays.
