The wise and holy Sages of Israel said:

"Rabbi Yehoshua the son of Levi said: If the nations of the world only knew how beneficial the Holy Temple in Jerusalem is for them, they would guard it with armored fortifications, for it is more beneficial for them than it is for Israel! How do we know this? We can learn this from the prayer of King Solomon to God at the dedication of the Holy Temple he built, as it is written (Book of Kings I, Chapter 8):

"Foreigners, who do not belong to your people Israel, will come from a distant land because of your reputation. When they hear about your great reputation and your ability to accomplish mighty deeds, they will come and direct their prayers toward this temple. Then listen from your heavenly dwelling place, and answer all the prayers of the foreigners" (UNCONDITIONALLY, Y.B.).

However, when King Solomon prayed to God for the sake of Israel, what did he pray?

"When all your people Israel pray and ask for help, as they acknowledge their pain and spread out their hands toward this temple, then listen from your heavenly dwelling place, forgive their sin, and act favorably toward each one based on your ev‎aluation of his motives."

Concerning Israel, King Solomon prayed: 'Master of the World, You know his heart; if he is worthy – answer his prayers; if he is not worthy, do not answer his prayers.'

And lest the nations of the world think that the Holy Temple alone is beneficial for them, they should know that if not for Israel the world would not receive rain and the sun would not shine, for, in Israel's merit, the rains fall, and the Holy One Blessed Be He makes the sun shine.

In the future, the nations of the world will see how God clings to Israel, and they will come to cling to them as well, as it is written: "The LORD who rules over all says, ‘In those days ten people from all languages and nations will grasp hold of –indeed, grab – the robe of one Jew and say, 'Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you' (Zechariah 8:23)". (Midrash Tanchuma, Bamidbar 3).
