Originally from Petersburg, Virginia, Ben Packer moved to Israel in 1999, where he served in the IDF's Givati Brigade in the Gaza Strip. Ben served as a Rabbi on campus at Univ. of North Carolina and at Duke Univ. Ben now serves as Director of the Jerusalem Heritage House (www.heritagehouse.org.il) and Co-Director of Young Jewish Conservatives (www.youngjewishconservatives.org). He lives in the Old City of Jerusalem with his wife and 5 children....

The news is reporting that there is a good possibility that the Jerusalem Building and Planning Committee will authorize a serious enlargement of the very strategic Nof Tzion community in liberated Jerusalem at their upcoming scheduled meeting this Sunday. (see here for details). The story of the Nof Tzion neigbhborhood is quite interesting and the heroic efforts of the Israel Land Fund and Mr. Kevin Bermeister to save the project are quite inspirational and praiseworthy. (here)

But with that said, I'd like to offer a suggestion to the Committee: I think they should delay the authorization of Nof Tzion....til Monday. I think on Sunday the Committee should authorize the building of the larger Kidmat Tzion project in the liberated Jerusalem neighborhood in Abu Dis. Its time to send a message to all those haters out there and no better place to do it from than from Jerusalem (Ki Mitzion Teitzei Torah...)! Anti-semitic condemnation of our fulfilling biblical prophecy by developing our homeland should not just be disregarded, its should be punished by even further development!

G-d willing, there will soon be authorization for a new Amona, a new Migron, a significanty enlarged Beit El and many more units in Nof Tzion. But its not enough, we need to keep winning until we get tired of so much winning (President Trump). Until our lips wear out from saying enough! (Taanis 19)

Shabbat Shalom,
