Dr. Stuart Ditchek is a board-certified pediatrician and author. He is the founder of the Committee for the Release of Zachary Baumel and a childhood friend of Mr. Baumel. Dr. Ditchek has been involved in direct discussions with the Syrian, American and Israeli administrations on Baumel's case. He is the legal guardian for Baumel in the United States and recently sued the government of Syria successfully in DC District court under an exception in the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act. He lectures throughout the world on the Baumel case and on the Syrian complicity in this and other cases.
