The Raping of Israeli Academia - Opinion

Donors to Israeli universities who might be curious to see if their money is being misspent need look no further than the a recent paper produced by graduate student Tal Nitzan, under the tutelage of her PhD advisors led by Zali Gurevitch.

The abstract of the paper, authored by doctoral candidate Nitzan, could not find instances of rapes of Palestinian women by the IDF as it sought to find. So, it was decided that the

paper should show that "the lack of organized military rape is an alternate way of realizing [particular] political goals." It continues, "In the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it can be seen that the lack of military rape merely strengthens the ethnic boundaries and clarifies the inter-ethnic differences - just as organized military rape would have done."

Ergo, Nitzan could not find any cases of rape by IDF soldiers of Palestinian women, even though Palestinian media constantly accuses Israeli soldiers of this. Apparently distraught over such findings, Nitzan had to twist her thesis to attribute the lack of such rapes to a governmental program instilling in IDF soldiers that the Arab women are sub-human or inferior.

There you go, those nasty Jews committing atrocities against the Arabs even when they don't commit atrocities.

According to Dr. Gurevitch, "This was a very serious paper that asked two important questions: Is the relative lack of IDF rapes a noteworthy phenomenon, and if so, why is it that there are so few IDF rapes when in similar situations around the world, where rape is so much more common?"

The student's entire thesis is bunk designed to achieve a political end.

In point of fact, there is no such thing as "military rape" (the term implies an representative government's army as being ordered to intentionally rape women to achieve a political goal and not just for personal sexual abuse). Nor is such a practice "common" throughout the world.

In modern times, among democratic nations, rape by soldiers in the field have usually been designated a capital offense under orders of their commanders. The British under Wellington executed their own soldiers fighting Napoleon for rape and even for the petty crime of looting.

The Nazis and the Japanese during the Second World War both filled brothels with sex slaves; respectively, Jewish women from German death camps, and Korean "comfort women" in brothels to please Japanese officers. In both cases, the women involved were part of how other nationalities were treated in internment camps after capture, as part of an overall governmental programs of genocide against other peoples. These others were shot, gassed, beaten terrorized and, yes, even raped, but they were not part of a military plan.

What few people realize is that the basis for Nitzan's "study" was actually founded in Muslim propaganda as a part of the worldwide jihad. Nitzan's professors, including the

President of Hebrew University and the University's rector, through Nitzan's nonsense, allude to the alleged systematic rapes of Muslim women by Serbian Christian soldiers in Bosnia and Kosovo and discuss rape as somehow being a common practice among American soldiers in Iraq. In fact, Nitzan discusses the political implications of such "rapes," at one point suggesting that Israeli soldiers do not rape Palestinian women because Israeli halacha has the ethnicity of the child to be non-Jewish (Nitzan apparently forgot the Arabs kill unwed Palestinian women, even rape victims, as part of their credo of "honor killings").

Such was the false tale spread regarding rapes by Serbian soldiers of Muslim women to supposedly increase the Serbian population in Kosovo and Bosnia. While rapes by Serbian soldiers were not proven in the end, there were rapes of Serbian women by the mujahideen and members of the Kosovo Liberation Army. Both were funded by Saudi Arabia and Iran.

(You know the Saudis. They're the ones whose "road map for peace" is what Israel is adhering to, even as the same Saudis fund Hamas [with the Iranians] to fire missiles at Israeli day care centers. The US State Department calls all that "diplomacy.")

NATO, including the US State Department, bought (and promoted) the first narrative parlayed in the international media regarding the Serbs, and then bombed them, forcing a withdrawal.

Kosovo has been a darling issue among radical Israeli academics who like to say Israel is an apartheid state. If what worked before in Kosovo and Bosnia worked in the worldwide media, then why not with Israel? There already is talk of bringing an international force to the West Bank and Gaza among college intellectuals in America, where Israeli professors like Gurevitch rub elbows constantly. They give paid speeches filled with mea culpas regarding Israel's mistreatment of the Arabs, like Gurevitch did at Knox University in Illinois (hey, it sells, and besides, it might inspire the same outcome as when NATO intervened against the Serbs).

Meanwhile, the French UNIFIL troops that were to separate the Hizbullah from the IDF on Israel's northern border somehow allowed the Hizbullah to rearm in the same area to the levels before the last Hizbullah war. And those international troops who may be dispatched to the West Bank to "fight terrorism" for Mahmoud Abbas, where are they to come from? Well, at the Paris summit to refund the Palestinian Authority with 7.1 billion dollars, the froggies offered to also send troops to the West Bank to do the same gimcrack job they are doing in Lebanon separating terrorist forces from Israeli children.

So what if maybe Tal Nitzan could arouse the same NATO anger with a paper on rape by the IDF? Why, it might just hasten NATO intervention. But, darn! The IDF doesn't rape Arab women. There must be some nefarious reason found, then. Let's just amend the report to find fault with the lack of rapes. Besides, the radical leftist professors at Hebrew U. will just as adeptly award an advanced degree for the right political propaganda to end Israel as a "Zionist entity" as for serious scholarly research. And with that PhD, just think of the speaking tours in American universities and the EU that await, as long as Israel is condemned as a rogue state.

If one is to look at the number of IDF soldiers she interviewed, the absurdity of Nitzan's study also becomes apparent. The graduate student interviewed only 25 IDF soldiers,

chosen at random through friends to represent an IDF of 500,000 soldiers. No soldiers ever accused of or convicted of rape were interviewed, nor any Palestinian women who claimed to be victims of such a crime (apparently they do not exist). Nitzan must have been terribly frustrated, so the evidence had to be spun as part of a Zionist government plot to dehumanize the Palestinians and make them look bad, like sub-humans not good enough to rape. What a way to save the day. Finding your thesis has no validity, you turn it to good use to please the radical leftist professors at Hebrew U. who will determine if you advance in the playground of world academia.

Even though the continuance of the anti-Serbian propaganda and denigration of US forces in Iraq could not be established in this nonsensical paper, the radical leftists of the Hebrew University Teacher's Committee - who are for anything anti-Israel, anti-Zionist, "anti-occupation," and anti-US - rushed to the fore to declare it an award-winning document. That should certainly bring it to world attention, and help invite NATO participation to protect those poor, poor Palestinian Arabs against the big, mean IDF.
