Still More From the Village of Chelmby Lee Kaplan As Jews, some of us have to worry about having our heads cut off our shoulders. What's worse, many Israelis are working diligently to provide the scimitars with which to do this. A case in point is Israel's Border Police. My father always told me, "You can't put somebody else's head on your shoulders." Of course, today, as Jews, some of us have to worry about having our heads cut off our shoulders, too. What's worse, many Israelis are working diligently to provide the scimitars with which to do this. A case in point is Israel's Border Police. I'm referring specifically to the latest mishegass coming out of Israel. The latest corker was the arrest of an Orthodox Jewish man for blowing the shofar at the Kotel during Rosh HaShanah. Seems some Arab woman said the noise disturbed her children. I was wondering if it was interrupting their viewing of Palestinian Authority TV, which encourages the little darlings to be shahids when they grow up. This law enforcement action was brought to you thanks to a Druze police officer from the Israeli Border Police. In fairness, though, the officer did not act without authorization from a commander above him calling for the arrest of that miscreant with the ram's horn. It must give everyday Israelis a warm and fuzzy feeling of protection and even equality. Jews are not allowed to pray on the Temple Mount, but even blowing a ram's horn at the Western Wall on the holiest days of the year will elicit a quick police response. I've written more than once here about Hannah Mermelstein of the International Women's Peace Service, who, as an intrepid member of the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), calls for Israel's total dismantling as a state. Hannah, it seems, does more than just exercise her rights to freedom of speech. She also destroys property in Israel. Hannah went around the security fence stenciling the word "Ghetto" on the Israeli side to signify the PA side as being the victim of Israeli persecution. So what else is new? However, Hannah was caught by two of the Border Police's finest. But did they haul the the Orca-sized Jewess off to the hoosegow for vandalism? Did they at least arrest her and detain her, as was done to that evil shofar-blowing man? Nah. They made her paint over the stencil so it was illegible. Then, they left. Hannah, of course, then wrote her fellow ISM peace-activists-cum-Hamas-human-shields that less than five minutes later, she continued stenciling the word "Ghetto" all along the security fence. But that wasn't enough for Hannah. She went along the highway and changed the road signs to Jewish communities like Beit El to say "Palestine." How do I know? Well, she posted photos of her activities on her own website on the Internet, especially so her fellow ISM activists could follow suit. With the evidence so clear-cut against her, did the Border Police finally take action, nab her in Hebron and deport her? Nah. Hannah also violated US anti-terrorism laws against conspiring to destroy property, but the FBI, in my own American village of Chelm, couldn't care less. After all, if the Israeli authorities don't care, why should they? Hannah runs something called Birthright Unplugged. She apparently tries to get anti-Israel activists to defraud the Birthright program to get to Israel for free and work for the destruction of the Jewish State. Birthright caught one of her acolytes named Sierra, so Hannah took up a collection and got her in. After all, Israel doesn't have enough problems to deal with, it needs more ISM activists here to give some aid to Arab irredentists. (She also helped smuggle an Arab woman disguised as a Jew past a checkpoint. My latest article showed how the ISM dresses women up as Jewesses, who then play with AK-47 rifles while visiting Al-Aksa terrorists in the West Bank. Even those guys were allowed to walk. Your Border Police at work.) Hannah is apparently so confident in the ineptitude of the Border Police that she went back to Boston to do some more recruiting for people to destroy Israel. She's back in Israel now, though, thanks to the authorities that protect Israelis from shofar-blowers. Consider this your Israeli tax dollars hard at work. Here's Hannah's latest report. It seems she's protecting Arab children in Hebron from vicious, religious Jews, and running tours for Arab children from the PA inside Israel, so they can visit "their homes" when Israel is destroyed: Three international groups asked us for advice on how to run similar trips and we wrote an instruction manual for them and others to use. We are encouraged by the thought that these groups might plan similar trips soon, before the Wall, movement restrictions, and other barriers make it impossible for yet another generation to take such trips. We recognize the urgency of the situation as we remember our January trip to Gaza in which organization after organization told us that no, as much as they would like to send their children into Israel to visit holy sites in Jerusalem and see their families' land, there was no way to get these children through Erez crossing. That's the way, Hannah! Indoctrinate the children of the PA that Israel is theirs so when they are 18, they can become shahids and murder Israelis to regain it. And do keep bringing in subversives from other countries to help carry out your plan. Why not ask the Border Police to provide transportation and services for you, too? After all, they are your best ally in this village of Chelm; that is, when they aren't busy arresting Jews who blow a shofar on Rosh HaShanah. Maybe this is one case where heads really should roll. Nobody could make this insanity up. G-d save Israel, because its security services sure won't do it. Tishrei 12, 5767 / 04 October 06
