Parashat Shemini, starts with the words: "And it was on the eighth day... "
It celebrates the arrival of the Shechinah - the Divine Presence - in the world, as "the glory of Hashem appeared to all the people" and G-d assumed His long desired place in the desert Tabernacle, built, on His instruction, by His people Israel.
Following the tragic death of Nadav and Avihu, G-d begins to instruct the people how to bring the kedushah - holiness - that His presence has magnified, into their daily lives.
