The parsha seems a bit strange. Here is a king of Moab fearing for his existence who decides to protect them using an unconventional method. 

He sends messages to Balaam and negotiations begin. Balaam plays hard to get, then he finally goes and then the donkey talks, it seems hilarious - but what is really going on beneath the surface?
