Why is Trump running so fast?

What’s the rush? It can only mean that Trump takes seriously Satchel Paige’s observation, which runs as “Don’t look back. Something might be gaining on you.”

That, plus he’s a New Yorker, which is to say he is bred, trained and conditioned to move fast in a town and in a business where runner-up gets no diploma.

You have to win and as president, Trump’s been chalking up his wins at an impressive pace – but why the rush? Is it to fix things before it’s too late? His successes together with his attempts to get things right, include Jerusalem, the economy, the Iran Nuke Deal, trade and the Western Alliance, borders, immigration, healthcare, North Korea – and he is just getting started.

On North Korea… the first impression from Tuesday’s summit with Kim Jong un is that Trump notched an historic breakthrough, first because they met and threw no punches. Second because Trump drew Kim away from his nuke toys and drew him into the world of business – deal-making. Whichever way this goes, Kim will never be the same. Trump induced him to join civilization. There’s no going back.

That does not mean the world is safe. But it is safer today than it was yesterday. Over there at least.

On Jerusalem in particular Trump made his mark for eternity. He promised. He delivered. Imagine that – a politician who keeps his word.

Trump is an intuitive man, far wiser and deeper than he lets on, and the guess here is that he is worried – worried that his days are limited, his time is short.

No time like the present to do it his way before they catch up to him. All those formidable G-7 leaders meeting in Canada a day earlier learned quickly and decisively who’s boss.

Obama travelled the world as a beggar. The Left loved that.
No doubt of that as they went scampering back to their capitals, Trudeau first to lick his wounds.

Trump is nobody’s Obama. Obama travelled the world as a beggar. The Left loved that about him and thought how cool it was when he bowed to his knees for the King of Saudi Arabia.

Quite the opposite with Trump. No apologies from him. From him it’s gung-ho American pride and zestful presidential leadership. They hate that about him.

They hate everything about him, first because she lost, second because he won, and not for a moment will they forgive or forget. The taunting, the sniping, the jeering, the nitpicking is without end and if it’s Trump versus Kim Jong un, they’ll root for Kim, Trump versus Merkel, they’ll take Merkel and Trump versus the lovely Justin Trudeau, they’ll cheer Trudeau.

Trump’s America against the world – they’ll choose the world. “Clash with Canada isolates Trump,” writes The New York Times.

Why not the other way? “Trump’s clash with Canada isolates Trudeau.” If the media can’t be truthful, can they at least be accurate.

Trump must be wondering how this will end, and in whose favor. Is he preparing for the worst? That could be one reason why he’s moving as fast as he can.

It’s no secret what they’re thinking and it’s quite terrible. It started with calls for his impeachment from the moment he took office.

From there – well it’s enough to remember Kathy Griffin posing happily with a plaster image of Trump’s bloody head on a stick, to the applause and approval from the Left.

Sharp knives are being pointed at him from the usual political suspects, and from the world of sports, and from the culture of entertainment where nothing like this has ever been heard in the United States of America – a rousing ovation at the Tony Awards when actor Robert Di Niro cursed Trump in the most awful way.

If that’s what’s playing on Broadway, it’s time for real concern about our president’s safety.

No shame. They laughed. They cheered – sounds coming out of New York. His kind of town. Before he became president. Now they despise him.

They are out to get him one way or another. Trump knows this and if he’s not worried about it, his supporters can’t rest that easy.
