Moshe beseeches G-d simply to be allowed into the land of Israel where he can see  "this good mountain and the Lebanon"

This is understood by our sages as referring to the mountain of Jerusalem and the cedars of Lebanon of the Holy Temple.

When Moshe later states the Shema declaration of G-d's unity and absolute Oneness, it is with the same clarity of love and devotion that informed his prayer to see the Holy Temple.
