There's no escaping the hidden messages of the books the writer describes.

Even the most devoted Public Relations executives need vacations too, right?

And while I am on my summer vacation wanted to share some books I have read in between swimming and much needed rest and relaxation:

“The Tehran Initiative” – An entertaining and thought-provoking book of fiction which tells the story of an Arab leader who seeks to create a Caliphate nation throughout the Middle East.  In the book, everyone from the Iranians to the Egyptians to the Turks are united to create a borderless Arab nation which possesses nuclear weapons and vows to eradicate both Israel and the United States.

Scarily, in the book, the Israeli Prime Minister is presented with an ultimatum by the American President – if you strike first against these people vowing to destroy you, we will stop providing any arms at all and you are all alone.  Without giving away the spoiler, even in the era of Edward Snowden, intelligence organizations work.  As the cover of the book says, sometimes you won’t be able to tell if its fact or fiction.  Largely very enjoyable reading.

“The Emperor of Lies” by Steve Sem-Sandberg is also a fictional book which tells many true stories.  It’s a tale of the “leaders” of the Jewish community of Lodz during the 1940’s when the Nazis ruled Poland.  Words cannot describe my feelings about how terrible the Jewish kapos, and leaders of the Jews were during this period and one cannot read this book as a proud Jew and not be livid.  Just sickening how certain Jews collaborated with the Nazis.

Dozens of members of my immediate family were killed in and around Lodz.  My maternal grandfather, Morris Waga lost brothers, sisters, cousins and more in and around Lodz.  Who knows what could have transpired for my family and for the 250,000 other Jews of Lodz during the five year period the Nazis ruled had the Jewish community risen to the challenge.

Both of these books are necessary reminders of the importance of a strong and secure, independent State of Israel.
