The Thin Red Line
We do not know the reason for the commandment of the Red Heifer.:
It is used as an example of how the Jewish People obey G-d's Will without question. We have been speaking of this incorrigible generation for six weeks in the Book of Numbers, but we must remember that they were spiritually very close to G-d.
Parashat Hukkat describes so many seemingly unrelated events, yet it is the profound fundamental truth contained in the commandment of the red heifer - para aduma - that ties all these events so tightly together.
