News flash – All people are not equal, nor is all suffering. Watching TV Saturday night, and reviewing the CNN home page with pictures which have captions like this: http://www.cnn.com/2011/10/29/world/meast/gaza-attack/index.html?hpt=hp_t2 one may be fooled into thinking suffering is equal.
It’s not – the Nazis who were killed by Allied forces liberating the camps aren’t the same as their victims, nor is the life of someone killed in an electric chair the same as their victim.
Reviewing the caption CNN runs we learn: “A Palestinian man grieves outside a hospital in Rafa, Gaza”. Reading the article we learn “At least 10 people are dead in Gaza and southern Israel, in a wave of back-and-forth attacks.”
Now how did these “back and forth” attacks begin ? By Palestinian terrorists (Not militants as CNN labels them) from Islamic Jihad who “fired more than 20 mortars and rockets” into Ashdod, Israel, killed 1 man and injured 20. /News/News.aspx/149207.
The people who were sitting in cities in UN recognized Israel "proper" (not even considered “occupied territory” from the 1967 Six Day War) including Ashdod, Ashkelon, Gan Yavne, and around Be'er Sheva. These were people sitting in their homes, parks, normal people living their lives.
And Israel’s “retaliation” ? From reviewing this story, we wouldn’t know that the Palestinian man in the picture who is grieving is grieving a dead terrorist – as Israel responded by hitting a training camp – as Islamic Jihad freely admitted. Islamic Jihad is recognized as a terrorist organization by the US, Canada, the EU, Japan, Canada, Japan and Australia.
Couldn’t one have referred to 9/11 as one which saw casualties of Americans and Arabs as well?
The world’s media shows no difference between barbarians who kill innocent people and an army for a democratic civilized nation that kills people trained to destroy harm and maim. The world holds the Jews to a different standard.
How soon the media forgets that only a few years ago Islamic Jihad used a vehicle marked with "TV" and "PRESS" insignias in failed attempt to capture an Israeli soldier. The use of this “press” vehicle evoked a sharp response from many journalists and news organizations.
How long will it take for the hypocritical world to call for an “end to the violence” on both sides ? Owning 1 of the 25 largest PR Firms in the US, I wonder why the world's media doesn’t call for America to stop hunting Al-Qaeda operatives , or why the police hunt serial murderers. If they didn’t, there wouldn’t be a “cycle of violence”, and surely many of these folks would promise they won’t attack again in exchange for not being hunted down, right ?
There is no moral equivalency between Islamic Jihad targeting women and children going about their daily lives and a democratic state protecting its own civilians.
Couldn’t one have referred to 9/11 as one which saw casualties of Americans and Arabs as well? “Better to have an Israel that is hated than an Auschwitz that is loved.”
